Ophthalmologists are eye doctors specialise in eye health and the medical and surgical treatment of eye disease. Some of our local Ophthalmologists and their primary specialisations are shown below
Matheson Optometrists work closely with ophthalmology. There is a natural overlap between these two eyecare professions and we can provide affordable OCT imaging etc for patients seeing our ophthalmologist colleagues privately.
We also take referrals from local GPs and pharmacists for Red Eye, flashes and floaters, foreign body removal, high pressures etc as part of the PEARS, PEARS plus, ACES and MECS hospital based schemes. Thoughout the COVID pandemic we have continued to provide emergency care for patients in our area. Because we are Independant Prescribing Therapeutic Optometrists we are able to start treatment for many conditions as soon as diagnosis has been made.
We have no financial ties with any surgeons or clinics. This means we can provide unbiased advice as to the most appropiate procedure, weighing up the relative risks and benefits to each patient case.
