Nick Durning is our Group Dispensing Manager, he is responsible for overseeing, assisting and training at all practices and also works in practice dispensing.
Nick is responsible for the smooth running of the practices and for maintaining very high levels of service. If you feel that you have any feedback (good or bad) about your experience at any of our practices, or indeed any other comments, please contact Nick directly by clicking here.
Nick started employment in the optical industry immediately after leaving school some 19 years ago, beginning his career in the manufacture and assembly of spectacles in a very busy practice often producing 100+ pairs of spectacles a day. Having progressed to Laboratory Manager he then began to additionaly undertake a Dispensing role, generally providing spectacles personally, "end to end" from frame selection to measuring, manufacturing, completion and fitting.
Nick then continued his carrer path studying Dispensing Optics at City and Islington, London whilst continuing to work in practice, Qualifying as a Dispensing Optician in 2003.
Nick has undertaken differing roles post qualification, he has been a Mobile Optican, working each day at different practices across the UK, gaining experience and overcoming the challenges found in working at multiple locations. Nick has also managed other practices for similar companies.
Nick is passionate about providing the most suitable spectacles for each person as an individual. He prides him self on going the extra mile to source a pair of spectacles each patient is delighted with, takes the time to identify an individuals wants and needs and advises which products are available, often providing several options.
Nick is a firm believer in doing a job properly, he feels it is often more beneficial to have one pair of well measured, well fitted, high quality spectacles than to become tempted by generally inferior multiple pair offerings and promotions.
Nick is very experienced in dispensing extremely complex prescriptions, bespoke varifocals and other lenses, patients who have difficulty finding well fitting frames, patients with communication difficulties and small children.
