Peep Eye Wand is used by many before going to sleep. It is an ideal tool to maintain the improved lipid secretions after having a course of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment with the Lumenis M22. See our video showing the M22 IPL treatment machine in action at our dry eye practices: https://www.youtube.com/watch

The Wand heats up in under 60 seconds and retains heat throughout use, making it much quicker and more effective than a traditional 'hot compress' (which loses its heat the minute it is applied). Reaching controllable temperatures up to 45°C, the Eye Wand effectively increases the oils in the glands around the eyes so the healthy oils can more easily flow into tears. This keeps eyes hydrated and refreshed for longer.

Initially start the wand with a body temp of 37 degrees C to get to working temperature for 60 seconds, then increase gradually until the desired temperature is achieved. Consult your dry eye specialist for advice if any doubt exists. The Wand doesn't require a microwave to be warmed, so can be used any time anywhere. It also comes with a USB charging lead so no need for batteries. One charge lasts about a month. Turn the device off when charging. Gently vibrating at a frequency of 10,000 pulses a minute, the Eye Wand effectively massages the eyelids, stimulating the Meibomian Glands, improving the lipid secretions, reducing tear evaporation and helping to normalise the tear electrolytes and osmolarity.

Clean the wand before starting to use on the second eye and after treatment finished. Alcohol wipes are ideal for this purpose. Ensure it has evaporated dry before starting on the second eye. Do not use it if you have any eye infection such as conjunctivitis. Do not use it when wearing contact lenses. As the video shows, the tip of the wand should be lubricated with an artificial tear solution such as MeiboTears or similar.MeiboTears is particularly suitable as it will not irritate the eye and contains lipids aiding the movement of the wand over the eyelid skin. Peep Club, who make the wand recommend not using the red/Infrared setting close to the lid margin. Please consult your dry eye specialist before doing so. Older patients with macular pathology should seek optometrist or ophthalmologist advice before using vibrating technology to be on the safe side.
