Malcolm Maciver BSc MOptom MCOptom


Malcolm is one of our Optometrists. In practice he carries out eye examinations, contact lens fitting and aftercare, OCT examinations, dry eye assessments and assesses for dyslexia related vision problems (Mears-Irlin Syndrome).

Malcolm started working in optics manufacturing spectacles (surfacing and glazing lenses) as a weekend job, later moving onto optical dispensing.  After completing a BSc in Applied Mathematics, Malcolm undertook the Master of Optometry course at Aston University achieving 1st class honours and receiving the prize for best performance in clinical practice.

After completing his degree, Malcolm undertook the College of Optometrists Pre-Registration scheme under the supervision of Andrew Matheson. Malcolm is passionate about providing comprehensive eye care and keeping updated with the latest developments in ophthalmic care.

Malcolm now holds a full time position as a senior lecturer at Portsmouth University assisting in the formation of a new Optometry degree course. Malcolm still performs ad hoc clinics at Matheson Optometrists.

Malcolm is registered with both the College of Optometrists and GOC (General Optical Council).
